David Foster
Founder and Financial Advisor
David Foster has worked as a licensed financial services professional since 2015. He holds both life and health insurance licenses in Georgia, and prior to founding Asset Protection Professionals, he spent eight years as a agent at a large, well-known firm handling all types of insurance products for individuals and families as well as managing money for business owners.
Having set up and successfully run several businesses in the past, David’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to do what was best for his clients led him to start his own firm in early 2023. He chose to organize the company as an independent agency so that he could offer hundreds of strategies and be unbiased when analyzing which choices might be best for his clients.
David says, “Since starting Asset Protection Professionals, I now have access to custom-made products that select advisors have access to, including products that are patented. I can custom-fit strategies to each client based on their unique goals and situation.”
“I always say that I deal with financial junk drawers—helping people make all the decisions related to the different segments of their lives. I take the time to walk through the complexities with you. It’s a process that starts with the end in mind.”
“It’s important that people recognize that when it comes to your money and protecting your assets, $500,000 isn’t what it used to be when protecting your family against the loss of a loved one,” David continues. “The average home value in our area is $410,000 now. You have to think about who will pay off your debts and how you will replace your family’s lifestyle if something happens to you. You also have to think about what will happen to your business and the people who work for you.”
“The average 35-year-old making $50,000 per year should have a minimum of $1.25 million in coverage.” ~David Foster
“I encourage you to be courageous by giving yourself permission to live the kind of lifestyle that gives you freedom, whether you want to vacation with the grandkids, or go on a cruise, or play more tennis. You don’t have to work every single second of the day; you can work smarter by planning. In fact, entrepreneurs often don’t want to retire. I help you plan for what’s next. I’m here as a sounding board.”
A natural coach, David likes to read, and to make people think. He often asks the question, “If what you thought you knew were wrong, how soon would you want to know?” As he puts it, he has a holistic worldview seen through a Christian lens, largely the result of his life experience, his choices, and education.
A Georgia native, David grew up in Flowery Branch and attended college in Cleveland, Georgia. He has been a University of Georgia Bulldogs fan since childhood. He says, “I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in world missions from Truett McConnell University, a private Christian university. I really couldn’t have gotten a better education. It was the equivalent of getting a degree in political science, anthropology, and communications from a regular university. I have spent time in Morocco, China, Thailand, Iraq, Turkey, Amsterdam, and Moldova, and learned so much about so many cultures,” David says. “My education was about living life ‘on mission’ rather than ‘being a missionary.’ I learned to communicate with many different types of people.”
David spends most of his time hanging out with wife and young daughter who is just a toddler. He is involved with his church and he enjoys fitness, golfing, and shooting. He is connected to his community and speaks to business owners at many events in the area.
